Blood Maps (8/8) - Castle In The Storm

This multiplayer map was created with the primary objective of creating atmosphere within the limitations of Blood and its aging Build engine. The setting is a small castle-like environment in the midst of an intense storm. Atmosphere is accomplished via the weather effects and lighting emitted by torches as well as lightning flashes.

Unlike the standard Blood maps, which limit storm effects to a fixed duration period, the mechanism implemented in this map allows the storm sequence to continue indefinitely, which is desirable for a multiplayer match with no specific time limit. Additionally, non-standard use of palette features allowed for the creation of bright white "sheet-lightning" effects, enabling a more realistic effect than is used in the standard game. This effect is combined momentary lighting to the interior areas to create the effect of shadows being cast by the lightning.
