Blood Maps (2/8) - Iceberg Of Destruction
Set atop an iceberg in the midst of an air battle, you fight your opponents as the environment is gradually destroyed around you. The map layout itself is rather simple and open, but the layout is gradually changed by a sequence of pre-determined events that occur as you play. The destruction process takes a total time of around ten minutes, after which only a tiny island (containing the player spawn points) remains.
Iceberg Of Destruction demonstrates the implemention of event sequences, as well as techniques to create the illusion of environmental destruction through the use of Z-sectors (collapsing ice), object destruction (crates, bridge), sliding sectors (building structural damage) and overlapping sectors that are dynamically swapped to represent different stages of structural damage.
