What is Bishoujo One about?

Okay, if you're still here, then good! On to the good stuff. Bishoujo One (or B1 for short :)) is a website dedicated to English bishoujo games that have been slowly becoming increasingly popular over the past several years. We will have reviews, features and articles, guides and other bishoujo game related goodies, all covering English bishoujo games! If you cannot find what you want, simply request it! In case you are unfamiliar with what bishoujo and bishoujo games are, please read the following.

What are bishoujo games?

Bishoujo is a Japanese word. The word has two parts. "Bi" and "shoujo". Shoujo literally translates as "girl". The prefix to the word shoujo "bi" modifies the word to mean "Pretty Girl". In other words, bishoujo games are games that focus on pretty girls. Despite this, in most bishoujo games, the main character that you play is usually (though not always) male; the pretty girls that the genre makes reference to will be the characters that you talk to and interact with during the game. These games can be of any genre and can be adult or non-adult. The most popular form of English bishoujo games are adventure and visual-novel style adult games, and these are the types of games that will be mostly covered on this site. In addition to bishoujo games, you may have also heard of other bishoujo works, such as bishoujo anime. Any type of work referred to using the word bishoujo means that the work focuses on pretty girls.

Are bishoujo games similar to hentai games?

Many people get confused, since many people (wrongly) refer to bishoujo games as hentai games. Hentai is an extremely rude word in Japanese and is being phased out and replaced by the more technically correct word bishoujo. In other words, the chances are that if you have heard or seen references to hentai games, what they actually mean is bishoujo games.

Who owns Bishoujo One?

I am currently a Software Engineering University student living in the UK. I have no connections with bishoujo gaming other than the fact that I enjoy playing bishoujo games. I have created this site in order to provide accurate, informative resources and information on a wide variety of bishoujo games. I want to share my experiences of bishoujo gaming with others so that others can enjoy these games as much as I have.

Bishoujo One was created using free software. Images (Except for Screenshots) were created in The GIMP and HTML was written in KATE. The website has been tested in many of the best browsers available including Mozilla, Netscape, Opera, Konqueror and Nautillus. Please note that due to a colour interpretation bug in Internet Explorer and MSN Explorer, image colours will not display accurately in these browsers. If this is a concern for you, I reccomend that you try Mozilla, which is available as a free download for Linux, Windows and other platforms.

For best browsing experience, I reccomend any non-Microsoft graphical browser with a screen resolution resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher (Minimum 800 x 600).
